The Aces Captivate Showbox Market

There’s been so much buzz around The Aces over the last few years, it was finally time to hit up one of the shows in Seattle. The band who is currently on tour supporting their third record, I’ve Loved You for So Long, made their way to the Showbox Market. The band made up of Katie Henderson, McKenna Petty, and sisters Cristal Ramirez, and Alisa Ramirez have been playing together since they were young teenagers in Provo, Utah.  They’ve made things work and have grown into one of the favorites up-and-coming bands.

The Market was packed with joyous fans waiting for The Aces to come to the stage. Right before they walked in Paramore‘s “Misery Business” played, and the fans started to sing along waiting for them. This was quite a way to get everyone pumped up in the right way, so of course when they stepped on the floor, everyone was already screaming ready to go. Lead singer Cristal Ramirez grabbed the mic and starting with “Always Get This Way.” Cristal was wearing a black suit, black tie, and black sunglasses adding an extra cool factor to the band’s vibe. kicking off the night with. The rest of the band was moving back-and-forth full of energy ready entertain. The stage was set with checkered flooring and integrate lighting that constantly changed and amazed throughout the night.

With every new track The Aces played, it made us fall more and more in love with the band sound and aesthetic. There’s something magical about them and the tunes they play. They are so easy to listen to and so captivating, you can just sit back and enjoy. I can see why people want more and more of this band The night pasted extremely fast without us even realizing it because it was so good to be around the whole vibe.

After track “Person” Cristal stopped to chat a little, ‘We’re coming at the end of this tour and I wanted to say that when things get hard on the road and it’s tough to be away from home, playing to rooms like this makes it all worth it. Thank you for bringing this energy, Seattle, I wanted to say something for this record we just put out called I’ve Loved You for So Long. When I was writing and we were writing it, it was during one of the hardest times of my life. Panic attacks every night, I just thought that whatever I did didn’t matter at all. It was the same feeling that I had when I was 14 living in a small town and was closeted, I just didn’t know where I was going to find the courage to come out and to live my life authentically. I had no idea how I could do that, and the only thing that got me out of bed then and now was this band. Playing together then in the basement and now hasn’t changed the feeling, the rooms might have gotten a little larger, but the feeling remains. Thank you all for being here.’

The fact that Cristal was so open in that moment to share that with everyone in the room made the show even more special. There is probably someone going through that same thing and hearing songs like, “Stop Feeling,” can make them feel a little more seen and give them hope for the future. It was the first time checking out the band and we wish it was much sooner. Their new record is magic and if they are near you make sure to be there.
