SOFI TUKKER energize Showbox SoDo

Some nights you head to a venue and you just know you are going to have a good time. This was one of them. As we walked to the Showbox SoDo we noticed all the people wearing party gear and purple hats in honor of SOFI TUKKER‘s latest single. The dance duo who took the music world by storm after their Grammy-nominated debut, has only been strengthening their hold in the industry with every release. When you catch them perform live you understand just why this has happened. Their contagious feel good energy fills up the room and there is nothing left to do but let go of everything on your mind and enjoy the moment.

The RIP Shame tour kicked off with Haiku Hands and longtime touring partner LP Giobbi who got the crowd ready to go with their dance tunes and excitement. In between the set up time there was a recording of SOFI TUKKER that encouraged fans to text them at a specific number for a chance to hang out backstage after the concert. Now that is some great fan dedication and willing to get to meet and interact with people.

It was time for the main act to join us and you could just feel the room fill with anticipation for what was to ensue. They started strong with “F*ck They,” “Mi Rumba,” and a combo of “Matadora/Awoo,” accompanied by the dance they have for it. By the end of it Sophie Hawley-Weld was at the barricade asking the fans if they would catch her. She jumped in and crowd surfed around setting high expectations of what was to follow. Tucker Halpern was just as ready to give 100% to the show dancing around the stage while singing.

Their stage production features a new version of their music tree that has been with them since the first show we saw back at the Crocodile but has become an interacted upgrade. The lights we colorful and there was a lot of black lights to emphasize their choices of neon clothes. They were bringing the party to us on a Monday night and we were ready for it.

People lost their mind as popular “Best Friend” came on followed by so many earworm tunes that we forget they have. “Swing,” “Purple Hat,” and “Energia,” had people dancing non-stop and it was such a great sight to see at a Seattle venue. People were having a genuinely good time and they were triggering all of this to happen. This is a show you do not want to miss, unless you don’t like to have fun, then don’t go.

Their encore included “Sacrifice,” and major dance party closer, “Drinkee,” where every feeling escalated to dangerously intense. SOFI TUKKER is suck a good time and we’re so happy they are around providing nights like this one. Sometimes all you need is a little dancing to put everything behind you.
