Reneé Rapp sold-out show at the Paramount

There’s been a lot of buzz around Reneé Rapp the last few years and we took the opportunity to catch her sold-out show at the Paramount for the Snow Hard Feelings tour. The young artist just released her debut album Snow Angel back in August, and has been touring around the country to sold-out venues. She gained a lot of recognition as the lead in the Broadway musical Mean Girls as Regina George. The tour is supported by Towa Bird and one of her record collaborators, Alexander 23.

Both openers were really good and captivated the audience that was ready to take it all in. Showing their excitement even while waiting for sets to change they would all engage in a venue sing along which was really cool. Alexander 23 has worked with a lot of artists as a songwriter and producer along with releasing his own music. His debut album Aftershock, came out last year which was supported by opening for John Mayer on his Sob Rock tour. Highlights included, “Crash,” “Everything’s Fine,” “I’m Sorry I Love You,” and “Hate Me If It Helps.”

It was time for Reneé Rapp to take the stage, that was set to an outside theme with the background looking like a window which displayed four screens. For her intro before taking the stage there were videos showing Rapp as a kid. The setlist was separated by the four seasons each with their own songs and before each started the words popped on the screen guiding the show. Starting with Spring, songs included, “Talk Too Much,” “Poison Poison,” and “Willow.”

Rapp stopped to thank everyone for coming out and how good it was to be in the city and to say that she really likes Seattle. She shared that she also lived here for a while and then she asked if any people in the crowd went to the UDub, revealing that she actually went there for a while too. Something we all didn’t know about the talented actress turned singer.

For her track “Tummy Hurts,” the talented Towa Bird came out and accompanied her on guitar as they played together and people cheered them on. The charming Alexander 23 joined her for their track, “I Wish,” as they sat down and played just the two of them in an intimate setting.

Rapp showed her adoring fans her vocal range in the last track of the Winter section, “In the Kitchen,” proving once more why she is worth all the attention she’s been getting. The audience cheered and cheered as Rapp returned for her encore wearing all white, while the screen displayed angel wings that she stood in front of for “Snow Angel.” Somehow the fans had gotten a hold of snowflake cut outs and they were holding them up for that last song as it played on. This was a really special night and we were charmed by the talented Rapp, we can’t wait to see where she goes next.
