Reignwolf return to Seattle for energetic show

We were very excited and had heard so much about the live performances that Reignwolf puts on and we couldn’t wait to check him out at the Showbox Market. Jordan Cook who played his first show under the Reignwolf moniker at the Sunset here in Seattle years ago returned to a room filled with many loyal fans. The fact that it’s been more than 4 years since and he hasn’t released a full length record yet speaks volumes about how popular his live sets are and how far they have gotten him creating wide range buzz.

Locals Spirit Awards kicked off the night rocking out the room as a three piece band creating the perfect mood for what was to follow. Things got loud and it felt that the guys handled a room of that size like it was an everyday occasion for them. They just released their sophomore album, ‘Muted Crowd’ and they have a bit show coming up with Pickwick on December 1st at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard. We suggest that you be there to support this local act as they have been killing it at their lives.

The stage was setup with two simple but strong lighting columns by the drum set that were enough to get a nice backlit band once the three took the floor. There was a kick drum to the left of the stage that displayed the band’s logo accompanied by a mic that Cook would grab and move around the stage. He immediately grabbed the mic in one hand as he held his guitar with the other and sing/play in a way we had never seen before. He made it seem very easy and did it with such ease that you didn’t even notice when he stopped to sing and then continue into a long guitar solo.

The energy level was high from the start of the set and bass player SJ Kardash, along with drummer Joseph Braley, were just as into it as he was. It was very obvious that these guys enjoyed every second of the show and infected everyone in the space with their excitement. Not even half an hour into their set Cook grabbed his guitar and jumped into the audience making his way to the middle of the floor and performed a few songs with everyone around him followed by his band joining him after a few with their instruments. This was such an amazing way to make the show feel incredibly intimate while at the same time creating chaos and keeping everyone intrigued.

There was never a dull moment on this night and we couldn’t believe just how contagious the emotions were in the room. Cook was born to create these live shows and he proved it thoroughly at the Market. If you haven’t heard any of his tunes start with, “Are You Satisfied?”, “Hardcore”, “In the Dark”, and newer release “Wanna Don’t Wanna.” Make sure you catch him live next time they are in town, you will not regret it.
