Fletcher charms Seattle with Girl Of My Dreams

We keep hearing the name Fletcher and we keep wondering why this artist has made such a huge wave in the music industry this year. We caught Fletcher‘s show at the Showbox SoDo and easily understood why this is her fourth sold out run this year. Her debut album, Girl of my Dreams, just came out a couple months ago and yet her fans seem to know the lyrics better than her as we could hear most of the night. Fletcher has to stop a bunch of times to raise her microphone towards them, smiling back at them listening to the words. The connection seems effortless and one most artists would crave at their own sets. Her fans adore her, and she feels the same way displaying her affection throughout the night.

The stage set up looked like an alleyway from a large city with a store front shop which displayed, Girl of my Dreams, on its tent. A little dark most of the night with flashing lights not really doing much justice to the narrative of the show. This didn’t ruin the concert for the dedicated fans, they were hanging by every word Fletcher would say and study every move closely trying to take it all in. It’s hard to pick favorite moments as everything felt bigger than the show and every song took off with the audience. This was so incredible to experience such a unified crowd, giving importance to every second of the show.

We enjoyed, “Serial Heartbreaker,” “Suckerpunch,” “Undrunk,” “For Cari,” and “All Love.” She absolutely killed her cover of Britney Spears’, “If U Seek Amy,” that took off. During “Better Version,” she sat in a little nook area with her guitarist and performed the tune intimately which was a very powerful moment. The exciting part of the set was during, “Sex (with my Ex),” where she went up a ladder and performed on top of the “roof” of her stage setup. Looking even bigger than her show.

When she returned for her encore, it was a bittersweet moment as no one wanted the night to end. We’re so happy to see Fletcher grow so much and have her hard work pay off, and to see how close she stays with her fans and how much she adores them. The venue went off to “Becky’s So Hot,” and “Bitter,” right after ending with what many of us experience as emotions after a breakup. If you need to soundtrack a heartbreak this year, Fletcher’s got you just turn it up.
