Capitol Hill Block Party 2018 Recap

It was time to trek to one of the best neighborhoods in Seattle for our favorite in city festival. The sun was out all weekend and the music was loud and never ending. There was so much to go explore and discover and our ears and eyes were eager for all of it.

The artist picks for the party are always so good with a great mix of known and should know acts giving us plenty to be excited for before we even get there. If you ever attend this weekend you will know why this is our top summer choice!

Of course main acts like Father John Misty and Brockhampton, along with Ayron Jones, Alvvays, Sol, Cashmere Cat, were great sets but below are some of our own favorites!

Amber Mark

Voice like an angel smooth as silk, we were not expecting to be seranated by this young act in such a spectacular way. We caught her at the Vera stage and were immediately drawn in staying for the entirety of the set. You should check their music out now!

ParisAlexa

We can’t get enough of ParisAlexa and we all know why. She is talented, confident, powerful, equipped with a unique voice. She has gotten a lot of buzz the last few months and once people check her out they become devoted fans. The future is bright for this rising starlet.

Great Grandpa

This was our first time checking them out and we’re so glad we did! This band was so intensely good and charismatic we get why so many were telling us about them. They gathered a huge crowd on the Vera stage and everyone left wanting more from them.

Oh Wonder

It had been a while since we caught the duo but they were at the top of their game at the main stage. It’s always interesting to see a more chill act play on main stage but still have everyone’s attention. People were completely pulled in from the start and we fell in love all over again.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra

The psychedelic rock band played to a full crowd and they were one of the main attractions this year. Top moment included lead singer Ruban Nielson jumping in the crowd with his guitar and playing as he ran around while the audience followed him.  These guys are always a fun time.

Kelly Lee Owens

It was our first time catching her and it was such a good set! We were not expecting to dance so much but we couldn’t really help it. Every song Owens played made us enjoy her music more and more leaving us with the best vibes possible.

Dillon Francis

You already know this electronic star but you can’t deny that he puts on a great show. He closed out main stage and throughout his set there was an array of lights, pyro, smoke machines, and electro greatness you would expect. There was no doubt that everyone’s night ended with a high note.

Two Feet

Another great surprise we discovered at the party while cruising around the Vera stage. The soothing chill beats along with his electric guitar combo was one of our favorite moments over the three day event. He was constantly engaging with his fans, going in the crowd and standing on the PA boxes.

Betty Who

This woman is a force to be reckoned with and whenever she takes the stage there is no way you can take your eyes off of her. She is a talented singer/dancer and she confidently shows it during her performance. “Human Touch” was a highlight as she and her two dancers made everyone in the crowd move.

Sundries

We always enjoy catching this band but for some reason their set at Barboza on Saturday was our top pick of the weekend. Sadie Ava’s voice is beautiful, raw, strong, and echoes through any space the band takes over. We even caught Thunderpussy’s Molly Sides and Whitney Petty there to show support and get into the music. There was a lot happening during “Saturday Night” that cannot be described via paper. Make sure to go to one of their shows when the return!
