Sera Cahoone Delights at St.Mark’s Cathedral
If you’ve ever been lucky to attend a music concert at St.Mark’s Cathedral you know how magical the space is. It’s been years since we’ve been here for a show but we knew this one was going to be a special event. The show is a part of Seattle’s Cloudbreak Festival taking place most of November and Abbey Arts who always nurture exquisite talent.
First up was the ethereal Molly Sides performing her solo set accompanied by Andrew Vait. We’ve seen Sides a couple time with her solo material, and we’ve been in tears with the beauty she emits. Sides is known as the powerhouse voice of local rockers Thunderpussy the last few years but seeing her like this is something else. The toned-down version of herself completely stripped and bare is another level of unreal. From the moment she entered from the back of the venue vocalizing with Vait like sirens until the end everyone in the room was speechless.
After a short break the talented Mat Brooke took the stage alone with his guitar. The former Carissa’s Weird and Band of Horses member played tracks we all knew and new ones that captivated us. It was the first time getting to see Brooke but in this intimate setting it was even more special. You could tell he was a little nervous to play his set and that made us admire him just a little bit more.
Our headliner and final act for the evening was to follow after a short break. Sera Cahoone has always been a favorite artist to catch, and we don’t miss the opportunity to see her play. She’s constantly baring her soul to the crowd and creating a space we can all express our emotions. She’s such a unique talent and has been through so much to get where she is today. Accompanied by the talented Alex Guy and Jay Kardong they created a magical atmosphere for attendees.
The feeling of sitting in the back and looking at the musicians perform in this place is something we never get enough of. The incredible ambiance of the massive cathedral and the echo of the sound create a sacred experience. Cahoone always knows how to make a home out of anything for her fans and that’s why they follow her everywhere. She’s authentic and does what she loves with passion and grit. Wearing all white they joked about being in a cult, if that were true, I’m sure many would follow her as their leader. Cahoone’s next show is at the Tractor Tavern on December 23rd.
