Larkin Poe bring Blood Harmony to the Crocodile
We headed to the Crocodile to finally catch Larkin Poe at their sold out show. The roots rock band fronted by sisters Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell was in town supporting their latest record, Blood Harmony. The venue was packed which made it a bit of a sauna but fans were thrilled to be there to catch the live performance.
Their set kicked off shortly after nine and the intensity on stage did not stop until they were done. The sisters were accompanied with drummer Ben Satterlee and bassist Tarka Layman. We were impressed by the strong guitar riffs, mesmerizing harmonies, charismatic energy, and Megan’s lapsteel, which we don’t often see at a show.
The fans were singing along to most tracks creating magic in the space as the sisters rocked out having the time of their life. Rebecca stopped a few times to chat about life, tour, how hot it was inside the venue, her recent birthday, and how happy they were to be out playing their songs out on the road finally. Megan did share a story about finding her dog’s hair randomly on tour even though they’ve been gone for many days.
We heard a few new songs and older favorites including, “Holy Ghost Fire,” “Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues,” “Bad Spell,” and “She’s A Self Made Man.” Before “Southern Comfort,” they stopped a second to raise their glasses and actually take a shot of the drink with the crown. After that Rebecca said “This one’s about being in love with the wrong person,” and went on to play “Might As Well Be Me.” The band finished their show with new track “Deep Stays Down,” as adoring fans screamed in excitement.
