Amyl and The Sniffers shake Seattle
In their anticipated return to Seattle, Australian punk rockers Amyl and The Sniffers shook Showbox SoDo to the core. The group certainly didn’t disappoint with their lengthy setlist, including popular hits, “Guided By Angels,” “Security,” and “Hertz“. While I love bumping Amyl at home, it just doesn’t compare to seeing these songs live. The group is an experience that can’t be fully appreciated until you’re in the crowd. Amyl and The Sniffers can be described as pub punk, which delivers a dirty, hard-edged indie punch.
Frontwoman Amy Taylor’s thick Australian accent layered over thrashing instrumentals feels like the soundtrack to your next bar fight. Gritty. Raw. Loud. Taylor is the type of performer you can’t look away from for fear of missing a beat. The moment she runs on stage, the room is filled with an energy that can only be described as electric. Fans flock to absorb this energy, and Taylor fuels that fire by jumping in the crowd and getting in faces.
