SG Lewis Gets Nostalgic with Anemoia
SG Lewis, born Samuel George Lewis in Reading, England, has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in modern electronic music. With a background rooted in self-taught production and early band experiences, Lewis quickly gained traction through remixes and original releases that blended introspective songwriting with club-ready beats. His early EPs, Shivers and Yours, laid the groundwork for the ambitious Dusk/Dark/Dawn trilogy, which explored the emotional arc of a night out. These projects culminated in his 2021 debut album Times, a celebration of disco and dancefloor culture, followed by the 2023 release AudioLust & HigherLove, which further showcased his knack for blending genres and collaborating with artists like Robyn, Nile Rodgers, and Tove Lo.

Opening the evening was Sofia Kourtesis, whose set was a vibrant journey through emotive house and Latin-infused rhythms. Her ability to blend melodic vocal passages with propulsive beats set the perfect tone for the night, warming up the audience with a mix of intimacy and energy. Known for her critically acclaimed album Madres and recent EP Volver, Sofia brought her Berlin-club sensibility and Peruvian roots to Seattle, creating a set that felt both global and deeply personal. By the time SG Lewis took the stage, the crowd was primed for a night of rhythm, emotion, and pure dance-floor magic.

SG Lewis delivered an unforgettable night at Showbox SoDo, opening his set by stepping to the front of the stage and singing the first notes of “Back of My Mind,” the lead single from his new album Anemoia. Dressed sharply in a tailored suit and wearing headphones, he exuded confidence and style as he transitioned seamlessly into crowd favorites. His performance was a masterclass in versatility—moving between his decks and live bass guitar, layering grooves that kept the energy soaring.

A standout moment came during “Transition,” and “Aura,” when guest vocalist Rahh, also suited up, joined him on stage. Her incredible voice added depth and soul to the set, creating a powerful dynamic that captivated the audience. The chemistry between SG Lewis and Rahh was palpable, especially during tracks that demanded emotional intensity. Throughout the night, SG Lewis maintained a strong connection with the crowd, turning the venue into a euphoric dance space where every beat felt communal. It was a show that balanced precision with spontaneity, proving why SG Lewis remains one of the most exciting live acts in electronic music today.

One of the most intimate moments came when SG Lewis paused to read messages from fans on their phones, creating a heartfelt connection before introducing what he called “a deep cut—probably my favorite song on the record.” He then sat at the piano and delivered a stunning rendition of “Fallen Apart,” a performance that showcased his emotional depth and musicianship.
The setlist was packed with highlights, including the shimmering collaboration “Feelings Gone” with London Grammar and the moody, atmospheric “Baby Blue” featuring Oliver Sim of The xx. These tracks, alongside fan favorites like “Chemistry,” demonstrated SG Lewis’s ability to blend introspection with dance-floor euphoria. Throughout the night, his connection with the audience never wavered—every beat felt communal, every lyric resonated.
