Odie Leigh at the Crocodile
As you step into The Crocodile on a drizzling Friday night in Seattle, you would immediately fall for the cozy opener set by Kaleah Lee. The dreamy atmosphere just brought you with her in the story she was singing along. Her music and voice has a raw, personal feel that resonates deeply with listeners, and you can hear this in her songs “Where’d the Time Go“, “All at Once“, and “Rotting Fruits“. The night just got tendered by Kaleah and shortly followed by Odie Leigh, her soulful, intimate, and emotionally raw pieces of melodies.
Odie Leigh started with “Conversation Starter” and followed “Chutes & Ladders“, which she introduced as a song she wrote about a person she never dated. The expressive and raw emotions through her lyrics and melodies connected with listeners just like a friend sharing a bedroom story. Of course, most of the audience were excited to hear, “Already (on my mind)” after all. Odie was very good at engaging with the audience and she had all of them shout all their names at once. It felt very inclusive.
Leigh shared that she unfortunately got food poisoning the night before while touring in Vancouver and hurt her lips by hitting the mic during one of songs. But she still rocks. Later on, her songs “No Doubt” and “Crop Circles” kept evoking nostalgia and vulnerability feelings in the audience.
For a few songs, she sat down on the stage to have a bit of a break due to her food poisoning recovery. It didn’t impact her warm, soothing tones with a touch of modern indie sensibilities. Overall, the show was poetic and introspective and brought listeners with themes of love, loss, personal growth, and identity. The Crocodile is equipped with an excellent sound system, swift security, and friendly staff, which contributed to a positive concert experience.
