Pillow Queens at Clock Out Lounge
We were thrilled to be a part of the Pillow Queens show at Seattle’s Clock Out Lounge. The band composed of Sarah Corcoran, Rachel Lyons, Cathy McGuinness, Pamela Connolly, have been creating a solid reputation since they formed in 2016. Their second albums, Leave the Light On is out April 1st and we’re positive it will generate more positive reviews.
Pillow Queens demonstrate the evolution and duality of post punk beautifully. Seeing big bands in small venues tends to become somewhat of a soul engulfing experience. Feeling like you just happened to fall into the right rabbit hole at the right time. Carried by flings of crunchy, bright and punchy licks that ring out (in a way that sounds like you’re falling through a portal in slow motion), in conversation with delicate voices hoarse with passion and vulnerability. Pillow Queens present with no extra bells and whistles because their music brings all they need to put on a great show.
What you see is what you get. One moment you’re swaying to beautiful harmonization’s and the next violently bobbing your head almost as if the intensity has been slowly injected into the atmosphere. Pillow Queens leave us with the reminder that its punk to feel, and those feelings can be heavy even if they seem quiet. They can also be blaring.
