Yungblud brings Weird! Virtual Tour to Seattle

This year has been a weird one for sure if you are involved at all in the entertainment industry. For us who love to attend concerts it abruptly ended in March and for artists around the world suddenly touring was a memory of the past. It’s been great to see artists work on new ways to communicate with their fans and try to reach as many people as possible without losing the connection. We can all agree that nothing can replace the feeling of a live performance, but it’s still been nice to have virtual concerts.

Dominic Harrison AKA Yungblud, was ready to conquer even more fans with his second album Weird!, but the tour which was going to kick off at Coachella had to get canceled because of the global pandemic. The December release though brought something we haven’t seen many other artists do this year, a global virtual tour. The Weird Time of Your Life Tour would take place and be unique for each city, accompanied with a full-scale production to promote his new tunes. This was something worth checking out as the young British star has created a huge following and is always finding creative ways to connect with fans.

We logged into the event and noticed a chat room on the right already filled with messages from excited fans complementing Dom. The chat seems like a great way to have people comment live and even connect with each other as they wish. The video started with Wargasm playing a couple of songs that were very loud and rock waking us up. Then a countdown came up on the screen showing us the next performer we were really excited to see, Royal & The Serpent.

Her debut single “Overwhelmed” has been a huge success in YouTube views and TikToks created building momentum for the talented artist. Her voice seems to carry the tune in a way that drives both intrigue and infatuation wanting to hear more. Everyone in the chat was very happy they had discovered her or happy they finally heard her play live. It was very good and the production that mostly focused on red moody lights were perfectly paired with the artist’s aura. Very worth to check her out and her latest “Bad Kids” feat. Yoshi Flower who joined onstage during the tune.

After a short couple of minutes it was time for Yungblud’s performance to begin and when he ran onto the stage it was hard to deny him our full attention. He yelled “Seaaatttttttleeee” and jumped around catching people’s gazes to focus on what was coming. The lights were impressive and it was an actual real show with production setup not just a living room virtual set. Not that those are bad, this just felt like a real show. One we weren’t allowed to attend I guess in person.

He was wearing plaid pants and a choker on his throat as his messy hair waved around the stage. He played for about thirty minutes covering seven new songs, including, “strawberry lipstick,” “weird!,” “ice cream man,” and “cotton candy.” He stopped and spoke to the fans creating a more intimate experience and trying to replicate the live show emotions. Before “mars” he noted that it was about one of the fans and the community they have created and that this would be a place they would always belong. “I look out at these shows and imagine you are all there, I miss you all so much.”

After a more slow track “it’s quiet in beverly hills,” he stopped to say that the show was coming to an end and it had been great singing to all of us before finishing his set with “teresa.” He said his goodnight and the video turned off leaving us craving so much more. We all hope that we get to be with each other very soon and that we can hear our favorite artists play and very importantly discover new ones because without touring things are incredibly difficult for people starting off. Until we can all gather again we are happy to see these events take place and support in any way we can. The energy was really amazing and the show really captured Dom’s talent to connect with his fans.
