LPX REVEALS NEW SINGLE + VIDEO
“MIGHT NOT MAKE IT HOME”
HERE AND YT HERE
LPX, the moniker of Lizzy Plapinger of MS MR and Neon Gold Records co-founder, has revealed her brand new single and accompanying video “Might Not Make It Home” HERE. “Imagine if John Hughes shot a music video for Blondie in 2018.” Australia’s Triple J radio played the song early and PAPER Magazine premiered the song and video HERE.
This first song off her second forthcoming EP is an electric and buzzing euphoric ode to escapist nights in the city, the ones from dusk to dawn, dripping in revelry. Co-written with Caroline Smith (Your Smith), Phoebe Ryan and Tommy English produced (BØRNS, Kacey Musgraves, K Flay) this release follows hot on the heels of LPX’s debut EP Bolt In The Blue released in January 2018, to high praise from Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, Nylon, OUT Magazine, Interview Magazine and Vogue who called her “a force to be reckoned with.”
LPX on “Might Not Make It Home”: “Everything is so heavy and intense right now I just wanted to briefly escape so I made and lived ‘Might Not Make it Home.’ It’s a love letter to every wild, wonderful and legendary night out I’ve had in New York City, where I’m proud to live. I wanted to bottle up that feeling of freedom, debauchery and harmless recklessness and share it like a sonic shot of The Big Apple with all its pleasures, expected and otherwise.”
On the making of the video: “I don’t think I’ve ever made anything so free, light and true to me as this video. We had a blast running around the city like kids with a mic and VHS cam staying up all night partying, singing and dancing with strangers and friends.”
On the live side, In addition to co-curating (as well as performing) the ALL-female line up for the Saturday of All Thing Go Fall Classic with Maggie Rogers, Lizzy will celebrate 10 years at the helm of her label, Neon Gold Records, on 9.29 at Knockdown Center. The Neon Gold X show marks Marina’s first US performance since 2015 and will be The Knocks’ only NYC live performance of the year as well as feature a set from LPX herself (and many more!)
Lizzy established herself as a force in music as both a co-founder of boutique record label Neon Gold (Christine and The Queens, Haim, Charli XCX, MØ, Tove Lo, Marina and the Diamonds etc) as well as the front woman of alt pop darlings MS MR. Self funded, self released and self realized, LPX finds Lizzy solo for the first time, leaning into a more alternative sound, writing music and creating a world entirely her own. In her words, “I’m too pop for rock. I’m too rock for pop. I make music for those who don’t care about what box it fits in.”
Following six years of non-stop touring, and two critically-loved albums under their belt, MS MR decided to take a hiatus to separately explore new musical terrain. Debuting as LPX in early 2017, Lizzy released two critically acclaimed singles, “Tremble” here and “Tightrope” here. Shortly followed by “Better” here – a collaboration with powerhouse Aussie electronic producer, What So Not. The two debuted the song live during his headline Coachella slot that Spring, and went on to top the charts at Triple J in Australia. LPX’s latest single “Slide” rounded out the year as the #1 most played single on Triple J within the last week of 2017. LPX has since performed a string of sold out headline performances and support spots for heavyweights Haim and RAC across North America on separate tours.
