Shame at the Crocodile
As a fellow Londoner, Shame still remains one of my favorite bands and I never miss seeing them when they are in town. Last night at the Crocodile did not disappoint. Charlie Steen, lead singer is second to none when it comes to stage presence, and kept the crowd happy with several crowd surfs and his legendary move of walking on the crowd. The energy was really high throughout.
Their latest album, Food for Worms, is my favorite album of theirs so far, the lyrics show a maturity and vulnerability not seen on their other releases. “You know you are wasting away, there is a sun outside and you don’t see it,” from the song, “Fingers of Steel.”
Shame manages to combine anger, humor and vulnerability in their songs while keeping the crowd begging for more due to their brilliant, energetic, stage presence. It’s hard to believe this band started in their late teens and are still so young. They will continue to go places and I am excited to follow their journey.
