Flipturn at Showbox SoDo
Flipturn, originally formed in 2015 in Florida has found their target audience over the past ten years and gone from playing house shows to large venue halls alongside Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Two Door Cinema Club. Their newer social media influence from Tiktok and the release of Shadowglow back in 2022 has them quickly becoming one of the top Indie rock bands in the U.S. with their captivating riffs and lyrics. In January, Flipturn released their newest album Burnout Days and it’s safe to say it’s easily in my top ten releases of 2025 so far.
The Burnout Days tour came through to Seattle’s Showbox Sodo with fellow indie rock tour openers, Krooked Kings, on March 11th for a sold-out show. The Showbox crowd had great energy and were dancing and vibing with the heartfelt rhythmic sounds and bright lights.
Of course, when the intro to their hit song “August” started playing, the whole crowd at the barricade leaned over the railing getting sentimental, ready to sing along, and everyone was stoked (here’s my POV below).
@katetakesphotos ‘August’ by @flipturn is one of my fave songs ever and I got the opportunity to shoot the band at @Showbox in Seattle while on their Burnout Days tour. Highkey crying in the club out here and grateful I get to experience life like this 📸🥹🫶🏽 #flipturn #burnoutdays #burnoutdaystour #concertphotographer #seattletiktok #seattlephotographer
Flipturn played a great show and you can see their growth and maturity from Shadowglow era to Burnout Days in their vocals, musicianship, and how they play off each other on stage and have created an immersive experience and cohesive fluidity with their fans down to even the merch designs and their desire to find beauty in the burnout of life that everyone faces from time to time.
