Kraftwerk at the Moore

We were lucky enough to catch Kraftwerk live at the legendary Trinity College in Dublin a couple years ago, so we were thrilled to see them again in Seattle. That first show was outside with the summer daylight while this was inside at the Moore Theater. They don’t have openers and usually start right at eight making outside shows a little difficult to fully experience given their incredible production and visuals.

The electronic music pioneers hailing from Germany have shaped the music scene with their innovative use of computers and synths. The current lineup of Kraftwerk includes Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Falk Grieffenhagen, and Georg Bongartz. Ralf Hütter is the only original member still touring with the band that formed in 1970.

Their usual setup of the four podium like stations were ready to go as well as the large video screen behind it. The band took the stage, and people cheered them on ready to immerse themselves in the show. No one stopped moving around and as the music and visuals changed so did the mood in the room. Highlights included the hits “Autobahn,” “Trans-Europe Express,” “Tour de France,” “Radioactivity,” and “The Man-Machine.”

Kraftwerk still put on an incredible performance that captivates and entices the people watching. Sometimes while you’re in the room it feels like you’re watching an ongoing movie rather than a music concert. It’s definitely more of an experience that is well crafted for you to enjoy. If you can make it to one of their shows, don’t miss the opportunity.
